Do you ever feel that there are so many people around you that constantly want things from you? I haven’t figured out if that’s a good thing yet or not. Maybe I’m a really cool person and everyone wants a little bit of me, that would be okay, but it just seems that lately I give, give, give so much, that at the end of the day, there’s nothing left for me. After being therapist for everyone else, who’s listening to me at the end of the day?? Sounds selfish, but I think I need to be more selfish. I try to be so nice to everyone, and it’s a genuine nice, not I’m going to be nice becasue I have to. If I’m nice to you, I usually mean it. If I don’t say anything, that’s when I’m trying to be nice by not saying something mean. I don’t know. There just aren’t a whole lot of genuinely nice people around anymore, and it’s sort of frustrating to be a nice person when no one else seems to give a fuck. Why do I waste my time? Is it worth it to be nice for the sake of the few people who care anymore? Maybe. Maybe not. Will my niceness spark niceness in others? Not likely from what I’m seeing. But back to people wanting things from you. Friends want support and advice from you. Your job wants you to be all you can be every day. Your parents want you to be everything that they wished they could have been. It’s stressful. And when do you think you actually have time to sit down and think about who you are as a person and what you want out of life? Hardly ever. It’s all a conspiracy. Work work work work work….don’t think think think think think. Keeps everyone in line. Don’t need any radicals thinking of how we could live our lives differently. That would be anarchy. Whatever. I’m in a bad mood. Seems to be the trend lately. Tomorrow, walk down the street and count the smiling faces and the frowning faces. Oh freedom…We boast of our freedom because we are too blind to see our chains. -The Jungle I love quotes.

All I know is that you’re so nice,
You’re the nicest thing I’ve seen.
I wish that we could give it a go,
See if we could be something.

I wish I was your favorite girl,
I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world.
I wish my smile was your favorite kind of smile
I wish the way that I dressed was your favourite kind of style.

I wish you couldn’t figure me out,
So you always wanted to know what I was about.
I wish you’d hold my hand when I was upset,
I wish you’d never forget the look on my face when we first met.

I wish you had a favorite beauty spot that you loved secretly,
‘Cos it was on a hidden bit that nobody else could see.
Basically, I wish that you loved me,
I wish that you needed me,
I wish that you knew when I said two sugars, actually I meant three.

I wish that without me your heart would break,
I wish that without me you’d be spending the rest of your nights awake.
I wish that without me you couldn’t eat,
I wish I was the last thing on your mind before you went to sleep.

All I know is that you’re the nicest thing I’ve ever seen.
I wish that we could see if we could be something.
I wish that we could see if we could be something.

So, this was such a crappy day that I thought I’d write about it. First I didn’t go to bed until 12:30 last night because I was up too late the night before and I couldn’t get to sleep. Then I had to get up at 6 on my day off, so I could take my car into the shop. Someone (un-named) was supposed to pick me up from the shop, but didn’t show, so I had to pay for a shuttle service to take me back to the apartment. I tried to get some sleep when I got back and right when I fell asleep the shop called me about my car. It was worse than they thought, so instead of paying 235 I ended up paying 544. 23. Then I needed to get to work, so the same person who didn’t show up to take me to the shop never showed up to take me to work after I repeatedly called that person to remind them, but there was no answer. I then had to call into work to tell them that I couldn’t come in because my car was in the shop and my driver bailed on me, which made me look like an irresponsible ninkapoop. Then I wanted to go work out to burn some steam off and both treadmills were taken, so I just turned right around and went back home. Then I watched the Brewer game thinking that would pump me up and they lost horribly. Now, I feel like going to bed so that nothing else happens today. I know I’m complaining like a baby, but cripes…..

Just wondering what types of weird things people do when no one else is around. For instance, do you shut the bathroom door at your house or apartment when no one is home? Do you sing in your car when you’re driving down the interstate with people on both sides of you, or just when you’re by yourself on the road? Do you laugh at funny things on TV when no one is there to hear you? Do you occasionally talk to yourself when you’re alone or practice a conversation you might have with someone? Me too. What other weird things like this are there that people do? I find weird quirks in life interesting. Fill me in.

I just bought the Ghostbuster movies and a triple movie thinger that has “O”, Made, and Rules of Attraction. I’ve never seen any of them but was looking for some opinions on O because I’ve heard mixed feelings about it. I don’t really care if they all suck because I bought it for 11 dollars which means they were about 4 dollars a piece.

I have also been reading The Jungle and thought I’d put a couple quotes on here from that book that I found to be interesting.

“All this is so familiar and common-place that one has to apologize for telling of it. Though it might really be interesting to have some psychologist work out the problem why a dreadful and cruel fact that we learn about one person should immediately cease to trouble us when we are told that it is the case with millions.”

“Perhaps it is because we feel the hopelessness of so vast a problem and prefer to turn our limited sympathies where they can do some good.”

“There are so many traps in the jungle-the creature that would escape them all must never sleep.”

And I was watching a comedy central special and the comedian said, ” the war on drugs in the U.S. is the abolition of drugs used by poor people organized by rich people who are on prescribed drugs.” Weird to think about…..

I’m gonna try to avoid talking about music this time.
I think tattoos are cool… to a point. I have two of them, and sometimes I get hit with the stigma that people with tattoos are ex convicts or bad guys or something. Girls think I’m a ‘bad boy’ and dudes assume I like to drink whiskey (and both are partially true, come to think of it). I guess it’s not unfounded, who would want to permanently mark their body with a symbol? You don’t put a bumper sticker on a porche, right? And yet, I like them, but mostly to the point where they aren’t too visible and can be covered by a shirt.
I’ve been guilty of those variety of blanket statement too, if I see a dude with two sleeves I assume he reeks of cigar smoke and he’d just as soon beat my ass as look at me, and girls too (though I think tattoos on girls are pretty hot unless its just one butterfly or something). So lets open it up to the floor, and I know there are plenty of you out there. What do you think about tattoos? Is just one or a few ok? Where? What gender? Go.

I just finished reading The Grapes of Wrath for the first time, and personally, I was really disappointed in the ending. For some reason, I thought there was going to be this unthinkable tragedy at the end or the family was going to randomly find somewhere nice to live, but it just ends with a very very weird scene that should never ever have to happen. I guess I won’t say what the ending is in case someone hasn’t read it, but let’s just say it made me a little sick to my stomach. I was expecting something else I guess. When I read the last sentence I felt like throwing that massive book right to the ground and yelling at the top of my lungs. I know there’s a bigger meaning throughout the book, but come on…It’s like John got sick of writing about their journey and he thought he’d throw all the readers off. I thought maybe my book got cut off short at the printers. whatever. on to the next one. my sister, awesome as she is, just bought me Upton Sinclairs’ Jungle so I’m going to tackle that. I love me some “injustice” reading. hasta luego. yo debo escribir en espanol. necesito practicar….

I wasn’t going to blog cause it’s around 1 am and I don’t wanna fall asleep in class tommorrow, but I just bought Chris Cornell’s newest record on Amazon for 3 bones. I knew it was going to be a trainwreck. CC, my favorite singer of all time, the singer of Soundgarden, singer of Audioslave, the guy who sang Black Hole Sun, the guy who sang Spoonman, I could go on forever, just did an album with….Timbaland. Taking a complete 180 from the artist i know and respect, he changes up both his lyrical style and his music style to singing nonsense about relationships over very Timbaland sounding beats. The first f*cking song is set to a Shakira type latin, tango beat where Cornell hollers ‘no, that bitch ain’t a part of me’ for the entire chorus. A far cry from the brilliant lyrics of Black Hole Sun and other Soundgarden and Audioslave material, I can appreciate trying something completely new to stay relevent as an artist, but this reeks of dollar signs. And yet, I don’t think it will pay off in them.

I love to read. Normally I like to read books or articles that have some factual meaning to them. Lately I haven’t been interested in fictional literature. It seems to be mindless and a waste of time. I know I learn things from anything that I read, but I prefer to read things, nowadays, that will make me think about the world around me and hopefully teach me a thing or two. Although, sometimes I get really nervous to read certain books. Books are so powerful. Words, in general, when read, are quite powerful to even the sharpest mind. The written word, done correctly, can send the reader into a fantastical spiral of altered realities. I am one such person who tends to get sucked into the book that I’m reading and at times will be completely separated from the life around me if I am reading the book for more than 30 minutes at a time. Sometimes at work, I’ll have a few minutes to read. I love any second that I have to read a good read. (English is so messed up.) If I really get into the reading I transfer myself to the scene in the book and it is hard for me to come back to reality. When I was reading Walden: Thoreau, I would sit on my parent’s porch in the country and read during the summer. I literally felt like I wanted to be his friend and travel the country with him. I had this fantasy of leaving everything behind and living the woods with the bare essentials. When I read his words I could feel and hear what he was feeling and hearing. It was really quite quacktastic. I also just recently read 1984. That book is so creepy. During the time that I was reading that book, I couldn’t get the idea out of my head that there were microphones all around me taping my every movement and conversations. I was so paranoid with everything and everyone around me. It was great. When I read Catcher in the Rye, I felt like such a young punk who wanted to live a rebellious life with no boundaries. He was like my hero or something. I thought he was hilarious. When I read The Great Gatsby, I felt confused. haha That was a hard read. But I suddenly started speaking with an English accent just for fun. Those are just a few. I love reading because it puts me in a different world everytime I read something different. You know those posters at schools that show a kid reading in his bed and there are 5 different countries surrounding his head in thought bubbles? That’s how I feel every time I read. I feel like I’m in those settings and I consume myself with it. In a way, it is very, very scary because it’s almost as if I can be completely persuaded to be anyone. On the other hand, I find it to be a way to escape who I am and be someone else for a while. I feel like I there, so I learn so much about different opinions and ideas in life just by reading literature. Literature that thousands of people have read, no less. Although I do get scared by the fact that anyone can write anything and publish it. It doesn’t have to be factual, but a person could take it as fact and the mind could change by just reading words written down on paper. Someday I will write a book. Maybe it will be a random book, or a children’s book, or a comic book, but it will be something. And then I will take my earnings and open up a book store for everyone to enjoy my book in. read cautiously…
