Tattoos

I’m gonna try to avoid talking about music this time.
I think tattoos are cool… to a point. I have two of them, and sometimes I get hit with the stigma that people with tattoos are ex convicts or bad guys or something. Girls think I’m a ‘bad boy’ and dudes assume I like to drink whiskey (and both are partially true, come to think of it). I guess it’s not unfounded, who would want to permanently mark their body with a symbol? You don’t put a bumper sticker on a porche, right? And yet, I like them, but mostly to the point where they aren’t too visible and can be covered by a shirt.
I’ve been guilty of those variety of blanket statement too, if I see a dude with two sleeves I assume he reeks of cigar smoke and he’d just as soon beat my ass as look at me, and girls too (though I think tattoos on girls are pretty hot unless its just one butterfly or something). So lets open it up to the floor, and I know there are plenty of you out there. What do you think about tattoos? Is just one or a few ok? Where? What gender? Go.

I’ve never really been able to come to a sound conclusion on how I feel about tattoos. I, personally, have thought about it before, but I’ve always wanted one of those real small ones on my toe or on the inside of my wrist or right along the side of my thumb. I’ve never felt the desire to get a large tattoo on my back or shoulder or leg or anything. I don’t care if people have tattoos, I just find it to usually be a waste of money. I’ve seen a ton of tattoos and only a handful that I think were worthwhile. A lot of people get a tattoo just to get one and they don’t think about it at all, and end up having a bunny kissing a frog on their body for the rest of their life. I guess if you’re gonna get it, get something that makes sense or has meaning to you. Like my old roommate got a tramp stamp (on the lower back, for those who don’t understand my slang), and it was two dolphins in the shape of a heart or coming together to kiss or something. I didn’t get it. People always pick on word tattoos, but those seem to be the most logical ones to me. I like it when people have just one word tattoos somewhere small on them. It’s meaningful.
I guess my tattoo liking goes to the whole other side too because I have a fascination with guys with a lot of tatttoos as well. But they have to fit the tattoos. If they look like a dork with a hundred tattoos then it’s a turnoff. but if they look like a badass and have a hundred tattoos, then for some reason i’m mildly attracted to them. Maybe it makes them mysterious in a way. Like I want to talk to them and figure out why they have a hundred tattoos?? I don’t know. It’s a hard topic. I like them, and I don’t like them. But over all I don’t really care if someone has them or not. It’s their choice. Just put it somewhere that it can be hidden if need be. No one wants to see an 80 year old woman with a rose on her chest. You get the idea. And don’t get a tattoo just to prove to yourself that you’re not a sissy…If you are a sissy and you get a tattoo, you’re going to be pissed later, and you’re going to look like a sissy with a tattoo. Don’t kid yourself. So, be sure you really want it before you get it.

it’s a tricky issue, which is why i put it out there. i’m glad i’m not the only one torn on what the meaning is, despite how i have two and will probably get a third whenever i can pay the rent a little easier. good call on all points.
